Abstract
in the structure of our society, there is still the presumption that parenting is only the duty to a mother. This paper intends to conduct a critical analysis of the assumptions of maternal parenting, using feminist post structuralist theory. This paper uses a literary approach. The results from this study show that the concept of maternal parenting is heavily influenced by the gender construction that exists within our society. This gender construction puts mothers as caregivers in an ideal context. Whereas, there are many conditions not right faced by a mother when doing parenting. The results from this study show their needs to be further research to explore the role of mothers in situations not ideal.
