Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine the implementation of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) interventions in increasing the self-confidence of Pencak Silat athletes. The intervention covers the six cores of the ACT process, namely Acceptance, Cognitive Defusion, Mindfulness, Self as Context, Values, and Commited Action. This study used a one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects in this study consisted of 8 North Sumatra Pencak Silat athletes who were attending regional training in preparation for the XX / Papua National Sports Week. Data analysis used statistical t test. The test results with the paired two-sample t test obtained a significance value (p) of 0.002 (<0.05). This shows a significant increase in the athlete^s self-confidence level before and after psychological intervention with Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). In another word, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) can be applied to increase the confidence of Pencak Silat athletes.
