Abstract

The aim of study was to investegation validitas factor for swimming basic ability test as a predictor to swimming competency. Subject catagory of beginner swimmers. The applied test have been construced in order to measure submerge, floating, gliding, leg propulsion, hand propulsion ability, as predictor and swimming competence as reference standars. Validity analysis uses internal validity between factors with standard criteria. Using Person partial correlation and backward regression for predictive validity. Reliability analysis with internal test-retest technicque. The results of reliability, fourth basic swimming ability tests- submerge, floating, gliding, leg propulsion, hand propulsion and swimming compentece have significant. Vactor validity- submerge-floating r = 0.581 (p > 0.00), submerge-gliding r = 0.330 (p > 0.010), submerge-leg propulsion r = 0.182 (p > 0.163), submerge-hand propulsion r = 0.172 (p>0.189), submerge- swimming competency r = 0.469 (p>0.00). Floating-gliding r = 0.358 (p> 0.005), floating-leg propulsion r = 0.189 (p> 0.148), flooting-hand propulsion r = 0.183 (p>0.162), flooting-swimming competence r = 0255 (p>0.050). Gliding-leg propulsion r = 0.090 (0.493, gliding-hand propulsion r = 0.204 (p>0.118), gliding swimming swimming competence r = 0.531 (p > 0.00). Leg propulsion-hand propulsion r = 0.557 (p >0.00), leg propulsion-swimming competence r = 0.284 (p>0.028). Hand propulsion-swimming competence r = 0.499 (p>0.00). The value of validity has a positive relationship, but it is in the moderate and low catagory. Results of regresi, The pive factor of basic swimming ability as predictor have contributed to the of swimming competency of beginner level students with a value of R2 = 0.531 (53.1 %)(>p 0.05). The remaining 46.9 % resulted from the ability of the leg and arm propulsions.

Keywords: Validitas predictor, Swimming competency.
