CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS MOTIVATION AND LEARNING OUTCOME THROUGH ONLINE LEARNING AMIDST THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC OF COVID-19

Abstract

Motivation plays an important role in having good quality learning outcome and to promote online learning during the rapid transmission spread of COVID-19. However, there are challenges in this choice as students motivation to be actively engaged in the learning process has been considered low. The purpose of the study is to identify the correlation between motivation and learning outcome of students in Indonesia amidst the global pandemic of COVID-19. This study employed correlational method in which the population was the total number of students at the Faculty of Sport and Health Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Indonesia. A class consisting of 37 students of the faculty who took Sports Lesson Planning subject were selected to be the sample in this study. They were required to fill out a questionnaire comprising 62 statements regarding motivation and learning outcome. The results showed that there was a significant positive correlation between studf the study isents motivation and learning outcome using online learning amidst the pandemic. The implication of the study is the higher their motivation get, the better their learning outcome tends to be.
