Abstract
Athletes are one of the groups at high risk of sudden death due to sudden cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest is an emergency condition because it can occur suddenly and requires immediate treatment. The Basic Life Support (BLS) is a first-aid measure performed to assist athletes and prevent death from sports injuries. The research objective was to analyze the effect of providing material about BLS on increasing the knowledge of coaches. This study was experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. Subjects were a total of 10 coaches from Aceh Province, male and aged 22-32 years. Data analysis used paired sample t-test (p<0.05). The results showed that as many as 30% of the subjects had a high school, 50% were at the undergraduate, and 20% had a Master^s degree. The level of coach^s knowledge about BLS increased by 37.69% after receiving material about BLS. The knowledge level of the coaches was different before and after giving education about BLS (57.99 and 79.55- p = 0.001). We conclude that the level of coach^s knowledge of the Aceh province about BLS is in enough category therefore that providing materials on BLS can improve the knowledge level of the coaches.
