Abstract
Background: Patients infected with covid-19 coronavirus and even influenza can died because an overreaction of the immune system called cytokine storms. Cytokines are small proteins released by many different cells in the body, including the immune system. Previous research has said that turmeric (curcumin) has the ability to suppress cytokine release and cytokine storm and is very potential in therapy for ebola patients and other viral infections. Previous research has previously also stated that the health of mitochondria know as a power house, energy provider for the human body should be maintained even improved both in number and function. Curcumin seem look like very low bioavailability on our human body. In order to increase absorption nanocurcumin which have more small particle substrate was used. Our previous research has said that nanocurcumin increase mitochondrial biogenesis in skeletal muscles. This study wants to look at the effect of nanocurcumin administration on Il-6 and TNF- which increase on high intensity endurance training (eTR). Method: Ten-week-old male Wistar rats were randomly divided into non-eTR and eTR groups. Furthermore, every group divided with control and nanocurcumin (100 mg/kg-BW/day) give peroral in the non-eTR and eTR group animals for 28 days to investigate the effect of nanocurcumin alone and the combined effect of nanocurcumin with eTR. 2 hours swimming exercise with duration 2 hours/days used to determine effect endurance training. Western blotting (WB) was performed to detect the presence of proteins Il6 and TNF-.
Result: Compared to eTR alone, eTR significant increase IL-6 and TNF- protein expression and interested that nanocurcumin significant abolish this effect.
Conclusion: Taken together, these results suggest that nanocurcumin treatment potentially decrease inflammation which involve on endurance training induced cytokine storm.
