Abstract

Portable air purifiers are one of the most sought-after equipment for consumers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Because this equipment can help filter the air from harmful particles, bacteria and viruses. In addition, the advantages of portable air purifiers can be placed in any position. Positioning the ideal portable air purifier position can provide time efficiency in cleaning the air. One method that can be used is Computational Fluid Dynamics. Because this method can provide visualization of flow, pressure contours and flow rates. The research in this paper will vary the position of the portable air purifier, namely in the position above the floor in the middle of the room and the position in the middle of the room with a maximum fan speed of 1.4482 m / s. The results of the numerical simulation flow visualization show that the position of the air purifier in the middle of the room is better with the same flow pattern both at the top and bottom of the room when compared to the position of the air purifier above the floor in the middle of the room. In addition, for the volume of flow rate in the inlet area, the position of the air purifier in the middle of the room gives a greater value when compared to the position of the air purifier above the floor in the middle of the room.
