Augmented Reality Application in Tourism Wildan Arasid

Abstract
The development of augmented reality (AR) has contributed to a variety of fields- some of which are history, tourism, and culture. However, such sectors have received less attention than such sectors as education and gamification. This study aimed to design an AR-based application to help tourists acquire information about a tourism destination they are about to visit. An online survey and literature study were conducted to obtain the expected application specification. Following the processes, an initial experiment was carried out to design the application system. A prototype presenting such features as description of destinations, 3D virtual objects, information videos, local language dictionaries with audio and gamification based on the visited destinations was created.
