Abstract

PT. Super Plastin is a company that produces various types of plastic bags. Machine layout is not well organized, high material handling so that the total production time is high. The purpose of this study was to design a simulation model for the layout of production machines, evaluate the layout of extruder machines with different types, and design a layout improvement using the Group Technology concept. The first step was evaluating the layout of production machines with direct observations to describe the process flow map to find out the material flow and process flow. Then design a simulation model of the layout of the initial conditions. This initial condition simulation model resulted in a production time of 7.02 hours for 200 sacks of mixed materials. The results of the verification and validation test from the initial condition simulation model were valid or represented a real system. the next step, designed the layout of the machine with the concept of Group Technology. The simulation results of the proposed layout obtained a production time of 6.6 hours to process 200 sacks of mixed materials. It showed that the proposed model was better.
