Abstract
Aluminum Alloy 6061 is one of the aluminum alloys with group 6XXX which is able to get heat treatable. This 6XXX group contains silicon and magnesium so that it has superior mechanical characteristics, will have good corrosion resistance and has a light weight material. To increase the level of hardness on Aluminum Alloy 6061, several heat treatment steps can be carried out (Heat Treatment). The heat treatment step carried out on the Aluminum Alloy 6061 specimen went through three stages, namely Normalizing, Hardening with a temperature of 530°-C with a cooling process (Quenching) using SAE 20W-50 Oil media for 1 hour and Aging with a temperature of 160°-C for 18 hours. By passing the heat treatment process this can be done by testing the damage on the Vickers method hardness test specimen and tensile test. The purpose of the study was to determine the value of hardness by converting the VHN (Vickers Hardness Number) unit and to find out how much load is generated when the specimen is fractured. The results of this study we obtained a good average value of hardness is 96,69 VHN and highest value of tensile test we obtained is 10149,69 N.
