Abstract

Pollution and global warming are two main socio-scientific issues nowadays. Because of that, those issues need to be solved through formal education such as science class. The aim of the research was to increase pupils^ creativity on environmental problems such as pollution and global warming through the implementation of RADEC learning model. The research applied one shot case study method with fifty-four participants in seventh grade school. The applied instruments were mastery concept test, pupils^ worksheet, and rubric of creativity. The mastery concept data were analysed to see the improvement before and after the science class. Pupils^ worksheet and rubric creativity were used to see the development of the creative ideas during the science class. Those data were triangulated to earn the representative results. The results showed that RADEC learning model increased pupils^ concept mastery and creativity. Pupils produced many ideas related to the solutions of pollution and global warming. Most of them dominated by posters that persuade to use alternative energies. Some of them produced water filtrations, natural fertilizers, and stovec with sun energy. Although those ideas were not produced originally but pupils were able to produce the solutions directly.
