Abstract
This research is based on the traditional architecture phenomena that are closely related to ideas in the field of mathematics. One of them is the historical building in Central Java - Indonesia, Borobudur Temple. The objective of this research is to investigate how a mathematical model based on cellular automata is in Borobudur Temple. The research method is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, in which data is obtained from observation, documentation, and interview. In addition, it also uses reference studies to support these three techniques. The data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis from the results of observation, documentation, and interview and then triangulates the techniques. The result of this research is the discovery of cellular automata parameters that can construct the structure of the Borobudur temple building.
