Abstract
Numeracy literacy ability has an important role to embody a critical generation as a problem solver. The numeracy literacy consisted of two domains, namely change and relationship, and quantity. Students numeracy literacy is influenced by several factors, including adversity quotient. The study aims to describe students numeracy literacy ability viewed by the Adversity Quotient (AQ). This study was qualitative with a phenomenological design. The subjects were 12 students of 10th grade of a senior high school in Central Java, Indonesia who had AQ types of quitter, camper, and climber. The data were collected by using written test adapted from PISA, adversity quotient scale, and interview. The result shows that in the domain change and relationship, students with the quitter type have a problem in making mathematical formulating that effect on their difficulty in employing mathematical concepts and interpreting. The camper students are able to make the mathematical formulation righty but they have difficulty in employing the mathematical concepts to solve their problems. Students with climber type are able to answer completely. In the domain quantity, all of the student are able to answer the problems and they are able to justify rightness their answers.
