Abstract

The ICARE learning model is a learning model that involves students who have an important role in learning. Students not only receive learning from the teacher as well as direct learning which triggers students to be less active in learning. This is what motivates the author to apply the ICARE learning model to improve students^ collaboration skills. This study aims to see the improvement of students^ collaboration skills in learning Physics on Geometry Optics through the ICARE learning model at SMA Negeri 1 Kabawo. The method used in this research is a mixed method using a sequential explanatory strategy where in this strategy the first stage is to collect and analyze qualitative data followed by collecting and analyzing quantitative data. The population in this study were all students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Kabawo and the sample was taken using random sampling techniques. The sample taken is only 1 class, namely class XI IPA2. The instruments of this study consisted of supporting instruments and main instruments. The main instrument in this study was the researcher himself, while the supporting instrument consisted of a written test in the form of an essay test and analyzed using the rubik of collaboration skills. Based on the results of research using the ICARE learning model to determine the increase in students^ collaboration skills at the beginning of learning, a prettest was held, and at the end of the study a posttest was held. Furthermore, to see the increase in student learning outcomes based on the N-Gain value, where the average N-Gain score was 40.05. The minimum N-Gain value is 21.66%, and the maximum value obtained is 68.89%. This shows that the knowledge abilities of students, especially collaboration skills, have increased by applying the ICARE learning model.
