Abstract

STEM approach in mathematics learning expects to be supported by adequate preparation, including facilities, sufficient knowledge, and appropriate learning media. In preparing relevant learning media, developing a module with a STEM approach is assumed as one of the substantial efforts that can be accomplished. Hence, a mathematics module with a STEM approach needs to be constructed through a serious and suitable process related to the learning conditions of the 21st Century. In this Century, students are strongly emphasized to comprehend 4C abilities, including communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. This design research aims to explain an overview for developing a module with the STEM approach, particularly for learning three-dimensional flat shapes. This design research briefly explained the steps needed to develop a module with a STEM approach through Research and Development (RnD) method. The framework used in this research design is to define, design, develop and disseminate and further known as 4Ds initiated by Thiagarajan.
