Abstract

The concept of chemistry is closely related to interpreting the three levels of representation. The three levels of representation are: (1) macroscopic, which describes observable phenomena- (2) submicroscopic, which consists of atomic and molecular models and (3) symbolic, in which submicroscopic models and observable data are expressed symbolic, for example through chemical equations. Chemistry abstract concepts are considered difficult by most students, especially when placed to believe in something they cannot perceive with the senses. The design used literature review, the articles collected with the criteria used are those published in 2010-2018. Based on the articles that were collected, it was found that. RADEC learning model is in accordance with learning habits in Indonesia and the RADEC learning model is an alternative learning model that is able to improve concept mastery, reading skills and improve students high order thinking skills (HOTS). Suggestions for in-depth research, especially on understanding the three levels of representation of students with a background in teaching and learning habits in Indonesian.

Keywords: Concept, three levels representation, RADEC learning model
