Abstract

Learning mathematics is one of the efforts to help students construct knowledge through the teaching and learning process. The module is one of the important components in learning because it can help students obtain information about learning materials independently. Based on the reasons that have been explained, it is important to know the effectiveness of the modules designed based on the POE model to improve student achievement. This research was conducted in the hope of knowing the effectiveness of the module to improve student achievement. The research design used was a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent pretest-posttest group design. The population in the study were all students of class X with samples taken from 2 classes of the population, namely the experimental class and the control class, each with a total of 30 students. Based on the results of the effectiveness test, it is known that the N-gain value of the experimental class is 0.69 greater than the control class is 0.44. Student achievement has increased for each indicator. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the module with the POE (Predict, Observe, Explain) model is effective in improving student achievement.
