Abstract
Ocean literacy is the influence of the sea on humans and the influence of humans on the sea. However, the lack of ocean literacy becomes an obstacle for students who do not understand the issues around ocean pollution in the coastal areas of Indramayu. The use of investigative practicum provides actual knowledge for students as initial capital in understanding ocean literacy. The study aims to improve ocean literacy in the use of investigative practicum on high school students. The research method used in this research is pre-experiment. The research subject used were 10th-grade high school students in Indramayu, West Java in the academic year 2020/2021 who had learned ecosystem material. The sample participants in this study were 26 students. The research instrument used was in the form of multiple-choice amounting to 22 questions based on 7 principles of ocean literacy referring to the SOLE (survey of ocean literacy and experience) which was modified by the researcher. According to the results of research, it can be concluded that the initial ability of students^ ocean literacy on ecosystem material still in the very low category 11,84.
