Abstract
The use of sensor technology on smartphones as physics learning media encourages teachers to reconstruct teaching methods in class. This paper presents the results of the study about the simultaneous use of an accelerometer and a gyroscope sensor in learning circular motion, and its effect on students^ cognitive abilities. Students^ responses and effectiveness of sensor media on smartphones used were also revealed. The research method used in this study was pre-experiment using before-and-after design. The research sample were 12 students of XII MIPA at SMA Negeri 1 Pagaden Subang Jawa Barat. They learned circular motion material guided by the smartphone sensors based worksheets. The worksheet consists of questions related to the concept of circular motion which must be filled by students. The questions are arranged based on the students^ level of thinking. Meanwhile, the students^ responses and the effectiveness of using two smartphone sensors in circular motion learning were obtained using a Likert scale questionnaire The analysis results of students^ answers on the worksheet showed that the average level of cognitive abilities was good (70.26). As many as 91.14 % of students stated that the experiment using sensors on smartphones provided an easier way to understand the concepts, 85.4% of students were motivated, and 93.75% of students stated that the learning activities were very interesting. The effectiveness of students^ worksheets using smartphone sensor media showed by higher percentage of learning speed, productivity, and learning convenience compared to the effectiveness of worksheets without smatphone sensor media.
