Abstract
Scientific literacy is needed in 21st-century learning which develops students to make the right decision in daily life. The development can be achieved through related local wisdom in the learning process. This research aims to analyze the implementation of the ethnoscience approach for improving students^ scientific literacy in learning food additives. This research used descriptive method. The participants involved were 34 students from grade 8th junior high school in Bandung who chosen by convenience sampling. Data collection is done by observation. The results of this, the implementation of ethnoscience approach to enhancing students^ scientific literacy need to be done by focusing on the preparation and implementation stage. The lesson plan has to be flexible according to the student^s conditions. For better results, the food additives topic should be state clearer to avoid confusion in students.
