Abstract
POGIL is a student-centered technique, POGIL exercises are carefully designed to facilitate students in exploration, whether it is a picture, diagram, a set of chemical structures, a table, or something specific. POGIL offers a way for teachers to assist students as they develop accurately mental images of abstract chemical phenomena. POGIL also helps students to link their understanding of macroscopic and submicroscopic chemical phenomena to their symbolic representations. Colloids are the dispersion of particles from one substance (dispersed phase) across a dispersing medium made of other materials. The colloidal properties of the engineered nanoparticles directly influence their use in a variety of applications and also control the fate and mobility of their environment. The sand particles are first suspended but then gradually settle at the bottom, this is an example of a heterogeneous mixture. The purpose of this study is to improve students^ mastery of concepts by following a 3-phase learning cycle, logically developing students through exploration, concept discovery, and application. The method used in this research is to collect various relevant articles. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires taken from several relevant articles. The results showed that the effect of the POGIL learning model on students^ mastery of concepts showed a significant increase.
