Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is an important part of mathematics that need to be mastered by students because communication can help students explain their ideas and understanding of mathematics well. However, students^ mathematical communication ability is still in the low category. This research can be used as a reference for future researchers. The purpose of this study is to describe mathematical communication ability, starting from the understanding, indicators, and aspects that influence them. The method used in this study is a systematic literature review. The results of this study are as follows: (1) Mathematical communication ability includes oral and written communication. Oral communication is in the form of explanations and discussions, while written communication is in the form of expressing mathematical ideas through equations, tables, pictures, graphs, or students^ language. (2) indicators of mathematical communication ability: mathematical expression, written text, drawing. (3) Aspects that affect communication ability in mathematics include learning styles, personality, gender differences, intrapersonal intelligence, self-esteem, self-concept, and numerical and spatial abilities
