Abstract

This study aims to develop the long-awaited material electronic book with the Four-Step Teaching Material Development (4S TMD) model to develop students^ critical thinking skills. The research method used is development research (DR) which consists of three stages, namely design, development, and evaluation. This article is the first part of the development of teaching materials which consists of four stages, namely selection, structuring, characterization, and didactic reduction. This article is part of the research results with a focus on the selection stage. At the selection stage, material development begins with developing learning indicators, developing concepts based on curriculum implementation, developing basic concepts sourced from international textbooks, and finally developing skills that can be integrated with concepts. The result of this selection is that the teaching materials developed are in accordance with the curriculum, and aspects of critical thinking skills are in accordance with the materials developed. Selection results Assessment by expert lecturers in the field of chemistry education.
