Mathematical communication skills can be used as capital in mastering other abilities. Knowing the importance of mathematical communication skills, it is necessary to make efforts to optimize mathematical communication skills in order to achieve the desired competency standards of graduates. As an effort to improve mathematical communication skills, it must first be seen the factors that influence the less than optimal mathematical communication skills. This study uses a phenomenological research method and performs an analysis based on the results of tests and interviews. Based on the results of research on the mathematical communication skills of students in online learning 58% have a high category, so online learning is fairly smooth and students can adapt to changes from face-to-face learning to online learning. In addition, factors that affect students^ mathematical communication skills in online learning are: intelligence, interests, motivation and learning independently.
