Abstract

Understanding student concepts is a basic ability that must be possessed by students. This is the basic ability of students to be able to have higher order thinking skills such as reflective thinking skills. This study aims to identify the understanding of prospective biology teacher students on the concept of invertebrates based on the cognitive process dimensions of Bloom^s Taxonomy. A number of biology prospective teachers was involved in this study (n=15). The instrument used to collect data for students^ cognitive process mastery in the form of multiple choice. Based on the data analysis, the average cognitive ability of students was 69.10. The average score of cognitive ability shows that the students^ cognitive abilities are still below the criteria for completeness set in each course.
