The sudden COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the global pattern of sports events, and broke the original regular mode of sports events. The sudden public health event has caused a huge impact and impact on the Chengdu World University Games. At present, the world COVID-19 crisis has not yet been resolved, and China will continue to normalize the epidemic prevention and control. In view of this, this paper discusses the risks of the Chengdu Word University Games on the basis of the crisis, using literature, expert interview, case analysis, based on the sociology and sports events theory analysis of COVID-19 on the Chengdu world University events, sort out the epidemic prevention and control of Chengdu university related practice, seeking the outbreak under the background of international events experience. The conclusion show that COVID-19 brings many variables to the Chengdu University: (1) the manpower, material and financial resources invested in the event preparation- (2) the organization and operation of the event is more difficult- (3) the economic pressure and epidemic prevention and control pressure of the host city is surging- (4) the social influence and expectation of the event is reduced- (5) the lack of culture and heritage brings different degrees. At the same time, COVID-19 also brings opportunities and challenges to the Chengdu University events: (1) functional construction of venues and facilities- (2) urban social features and environmental governance- and (3) commercial operation mode of sports events.
