CLASSROOM TEACHER ACADEMIC SERVICES ON SLOW LEARNERS

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the academic services carried out by teachers for slow learner children in elementary schools. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach to case studies conducted at SDN Semeru 6 Bogor City. The research data was conducted through structured interviews with a triangulation procedure, which combines the results of observational studies, interviews, and documentation. Research findings show that academic learning services for slow learner students include teachers in a week in a scheduled way of asking parents about child development, providing tutoring by paying particular attention to the teaching and learning process in class, adjusting subject matter to the abilities of Students, using unique methods mainly praktik, establish cooperation with parents, the allocation of time for which is distinguished from regular students. Academic services for them are also more towards shaping the spirit and mood of children by paying attention to development, providing material, and allocating time actively and repeatedly. This study implies that teachers need special skills to provide maximum academic services to students with special needs (slow learners)
