Abstract

The cognitive control process is an important cognitive mechanism in regulating and controlling human mental activity. This process involves the ability to process information, allocate cognitive resources, control attention, and make decisions. This cognitive control process is of course very important when we do multitasking activities. This research was conducted through an experiment involving three graduate students at one of the universities in Bandung city who acted as participants. The experiment in this study was conducted through simulation. Each participant followed a structured simulation with the same rules. In an effort to collect data, the researcher collected data using the journaling method with self-report techniques. This study aims to analyze the overview that occurs from the cognitive process in response to college students^ multitasking activities. The process of cognitive control has positive benefits to help students in doing several tasks at the same time so that it will save time and make activities run more effectively. Based on the results of this study, it was found that almost all students described a complicated cognitive process in multitasking activities and had difficulty completing the purpose of the activity to the maximum. Nevertheless, through cognitive control that is done, the results obtained that two students could finally complete the task by choosing one of the activities that should be done quickly and precisely in their thought process.
