Abstract
Life skills are abilities that are very important in dealing with challenges in everyday life. One aspect that has a significant role in the development of life skills is sports activities. This study aims to compare the life skills of adolescents in high school who are involved in extracurricular sports activities and students who are not involved in extracurricular sports activities. In this study, 120 teenage students were selected as the sample, consisting of 70 students participating in extracurricular sports (24 football students, 17 volleyball students, 19 basketball students, and 10 badminton students) and 50 students who were not involved in extracurricular sports activities. . To measure life skills, this study uses the Life Skills Scale for Sports (LSSS) which is distributed via Google Form. The LSSS is a tool consisting of eight life skills components and 47 closed statements. The results of this study indicated a significant difference in survival skills between adolescents who were involved in extracurricular sports activities and those who were not involved. Students who are involved in extracurricular sporting activities show higher levels of ability to live in various aspects measured by the LSSS. The results of this study provide strong support for the importance of extracurricular sports activities in developing life skills in adolescents in secondary schools.
