Identification of students^ misconception in cell at first grade of senior high school

Abstract

This study aims to identify the misconception of the student in biology learning especially in type of cells and their common characteristics at senior high school level. By using descriptive statistics research method, the data were collected from 31 first grade students (15-16-year old). Instruments included a test in the form of written test. The result of the test has been obtained, then processed by analyzing the students^ answers for each item. The results showed that students^ understanding in type of cells and their common characteristics has experienced misconception. So, we can say that cell concept in first grade student in senior high school still low. At the end, the impact can make most of senior high school students think that learning about cell in biology is difficult.
