Abstract

A number of studies have documented students difficulties in completing mathematics set material and the availability of teaching materials that lack training of students in active thinking, which results in high errors of students in solving mathematical set problems seen from indicators of mathematical understanding ability. Coupled with the difficulty of learning during the COVID 19. Therefore, this research aims to design and develop learning trajectories in mathematics set material which is a set of activities arranged systematically using Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning. This design is called the Local Instruction Theory Trajectory (LIT) in the RME approach. The research method used is experimental research design, and resrospective analysis. The research subjects in teaching experiment phase 1 were students of class VIII MTs. Negeri 4 Sumedang and subjects in teaching experiment stage 2 were students of MTs. Kirisik, Sumedang. This study describes how the LIT design of the mathematical set in the developed RME approach contributes to developing students^ mathematical understanding abilities with advanced analysis of the horizontal and vertical mathematical processes. The final result of learning where more than a number of students have been able to bring up the steps in the mathematical process.
