Abstract
Citizenship Education does not stop at the principles, concepts, and facts of state issues for students. Beyond just learning about life in the state, Citizenship Education is also a process of discovery. This statement gives a signal that students are not sufficiently invited to conventional learning limited to memorization in Citizenship Education, but also students understand what and how it happens. The purpose of this study is to find the effect of increasing the critical thinking of Indonesian citizenship through interdisciplinary learning for promoting a smart and sustainable society. This research was pre-experimental conducted for four weeks on 40 students of the Department of Primary School Teacher Education at Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta. To know the critical thinking of citizenship in the Indonesian context through interdisciplinary learning for promoting smart and sustainable learning societies using activity sheets based on outdoor education on students cognitive skills are applied. They consist of 6 items given as a pretest and posttest for students. The results of the analysis explained that there was a significant influence between the activity sheets based on the critical learning of Indonesian citizenship context through interdisciplinary education for promoting a smart and sustainable society. Also, there is a significant increase in the results of the process of citizenship critical learning after experiencing learning by using an activity sheet based on essential knowledge in Citizenship Education
