Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia

Abstract

Previous research has shown that parents preferences in choosing schools vary by social and economic level. Parental choices are part of a social process influenced by salient traits of social class and networks of social relationships. This has a strong argument considering that the characteristics of the school chosen will be closely related to the features of the household itself. We used primary data to investigate socioeconomic status effect on school choice differences. In this study, we predict differences in the characteristics of parents who prefer to send their children to public schools or private schools based on socioeconomic status--between socioeconomic status and school choice. The results of this study reveal that socioeconomic status is the main reason influencing preference in school choice. In essence, the economic condition affects school choice positively.

Abstract

This research presents a study focused on reducing coated kraft paper waste at CV. MXX through the adoption of lean operation methods. The objective of this research is to find the root cause of the high waste percentage in CV. MXX production process and suggest the appropriate solution for waste reduction. The problem faced by CV. MXX is a high waste rate in the production process. According to the CV. MXX owner^s observation, waste product in CV. MXX has reached a staggering 9% of the total production volume. This number is relatively high, as it can reach up to 7 tons of waste daily, which translates into IDR 64,000,000 of loss value. This research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis and qualitative observations. Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts are utilized for quality measurement then further analyzed with the rule of seven for control charts. The data collection indicates that the waste generation is triggered by unstandardized operation, lack of quality control, and large product variability. Overall, this research is expected to give sustainable suggestions in the effort of waste reduction, production efficiency, product quality, and staff involvement in waste reduction initiatives. Based on the analysis, this paper suggests increasing control in product quality by establishing a formal and systematic Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), also an additional monitoring phase in every major production stage.

Abstract

In healthcare service, the Indonesian Ministry of Health has regulated the minimum standard that must be served by all hospitals in Indonesia. Every hospital also has an operational standard that is established by the hospital management. This study mainly focuses on Length of Stay (LOS) of pediatric dental outpatient polyclinic and a private hospital in Bandung, XYZ Hospital, as the subject. LOS is defined as the total time a patient spends in a hospital from arrival at the administration until the time he/she leaves the hospital. The XYZ Hospital management set 2 hours as the maximum duration of time that an outpatient spent in hospital. Preliminary data showed that the pediatric dental polyclinic^s average of outpatient LOS (OLOS) has exceeded the standard. Hence, this study aimed to find a solution toward this issue. To analyze this issue, further analysis using the secondary data was done to find out which sub-process contributes the longest time from the whole process. A control chart is also being used to comprehend the maximum time in each sub-process during their best performance. A process mapping to construct pediatric dental outpatient service^s BPMN was also be done. The BPMN then evaluated using value-added analysis which showed some activities that needs to be minimized or removed. The analysis showed outpatient waiting time contributes the longest time which in fact is a non-value-added activity and the maximum time in each sub-process can be used as a baseline for ensuring that the OLOS remains under 2 hours. In conclusion, an improvement of the business process, specifically in registration process, will be suggested to XYZ Hospital and it is hoped that the pediatric dental polyclinic will achieve the hospital management^s standard which results in increased patient^s satisfaction.

Abstract

As the competition in healthcare services and patients expectations for service quality arise, hospitals are paying more attention in improving their quality from both clinical and management perspective. Minimizing length of stay (LOS) time in the outpatient departments will improve operational performance and in turn, increase patient satisfaction. The aim of this study is to analyze the current performance of OLOS time compared to the 2-hour standard from hospital management, analyze each subprocess of OLOS, and ultimately propose suggestions to reduce the OLOS duration at Obstetrics & Gynecology Department of Edelweiss Hospital in Bandung. In this study, the existing OLOS database from August 2020-May 2023 will be analyzed using Control Chart and Process Capability to assess OLOS the performance. BPMN will be used to map the existing business process and analyze non-value added activities to the process. Then, improved BPMN is visualized as the proposed strategy. The suggested improvements include enhancing the website system to verify patients, insurance databases, collect new patient databases, and provide time slot suggestions for appointments. Kiosks are also utilized to record patient databases by scanning a QR code generated from the website upon arrival, eliminating the need for a registration counter. Patients will arrive at the hospital according to their assigned time slots and proceed directly to the polyclinic, which in turn will minimize waiting time.

Abstract

Bangka Belitung, an Indonesian province known for its archipelago nature, holds significant potential in the fisheries sector, with an annual fishery product potential of 1,059,000 tons. The province also houses numerous micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), totaling 12,843 in 2016. Considering this, the government aims to boost the food industry based on fisheries, projecting an additional IDR 30 billion in value, an 8% growth rate, an export value of IDR 4,500,000 million, job opportunities for 25,000 individuals, and an investment value of IDR 200 billion from 2019 to 2024. However, the current plan lacks an effective information system in the supply chain process, leading to limited understanding among stakeholders. This study focuses on mapping the current supply chain of two MSME products, Rusip and Fish Crackers, in Pangkalan Baru, and proposes SCOR model performance metrics to improve the MSMEs and supply chain performance. According to the analyses, it is found that the supply chain of Rusip and Fish Crackers are similar, except for the layer of supplier involved in the sourcing process. This study suggests 12 metrics for improvement and emphasizes the need for government involvement in leading and monitoring the development process to ensure success.

Abstract

There are billions of computers and other electronic devices connected to the Internet on a global scale. People may virtually access any data, communicate with virtually anyone worldwide, and accomplish a lot more with the help of the Internet. Using the internet for more than simply studying is beneficial, but excessive use can result in addiction. Past studies have focused more on general concepts of applications of Ajzen^s Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in the domain of perceived behavioral control to verify the efficiency of the theory. Therefore, this study investigated online gaming, social networking, and streaming with the aims to find factors affecting Internet addiction among university part-time students. A cross sectional study was conducted among 199 respondents from public university part-time students between 26 to 55 years old in Malaysia. The hypotheses were tested using regression in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 25. The study outcomes exhibited empirical support for the proposed research model. The results depicted that two of the independent variables (social media and video games) are statistically significant contributors to the prediction of internet addiction while environmental factor was not significant in this study. The study provided insights into the application of Theory of Planned Behavior-based framework and enhanced the understanding of the factors affecting Internet addiction among university part-time students.
